It’s amazing
What traffic can do
Makes driving almost automatic
Just following the taillights
Gives you plenty of time to think

About life
And love
And mysteries
And failures
And mostly just "Why?"

Why the best team
Doesn’t always win.
Why the guy
Doesn’t always get the girl.
(It’s more like never)

There’s an old saying
About fish in the sea
It’s true
But, it’s no comfort
And I’ll tell you why

I have standards
They make me who I am
They’ll not be compromised
For a moment of lust
Or some one night stand

Now considering this
The sea’s not so crowded
But not all that are left
Are the cream of the crop
The ones that are truly worthy

Now our group
Is actually quite small
It has been reduced
From a vegetation dense rainforest
To an Arizona desert

And of this small portion
Even fewer are free
‘Cause these good ones
Are by far the most prized
And the most likely to be taken

Yet, still there are some
Who are double A’s
Awesome and available
These girls can take their pick
And none ever pick me

Oh, I try my hardest
But the results never change
Only answer I see
Is the dreaded f-word
That they just want to be

Friends

The first just because
The second for the better
The third for no reason
And as for the latest,
Who knows?

The law of averages
Must be on my side
At least, one would think
But the only law at work
Is that one by Murphy

If there exists a bright side
To this depressing digression
It can only be this:
I may never be the lover,
At least I will be a friend

Again
